“Don’t Ask”

As we journey through our Bible reading,  I was struck by a passage in Exodus.  Moses was quite hesistant in accepting God’s call in delivering God’s People from Egypt.  However, God was merciful and understanding.  After performing miraculous signs before the Pharaoh, Moses finally leads the Israelites out of the land.  God’s presence was with them…through the pillar of cloud by day and through the pillar of fire by night.  Then they face one of their greatest obstacles…the crossing of the Sea.  The people begin to grumble and question Moses, so Moses begins to call on God.  Here’s what struck me…”Then the Lord said to Moses, ‘Why are you crying out to me?  Tell the Israelites to move on.  Raise your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea to divide the water so that the Israelites can go through the sea on dry ground…’”

Sometimes, God wants us to act on what He has already said or promised.  Are we lacking faith?  Are we being obedient?  May God give us the boldness to walk in obedience and the sensibility to hear His small still voice.  Blessings!
