Remember that we, as believers, have a blessed hope due to the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ! Our sin, once and for all, was atoned for. There will be a special dinner tonight at church in honor of FOMT ministry. We have had a number of Minnesotan friends that have served the Body of Christ these past few weeks. We praise the Lord for the love and servant-leadership of these folks. New Hope Alliance Church has been truly blessed. Thank you to all the families that visited and served our church.

As we have been journeying through the Bible, it has intrigued me to read how God specified what He wanted regarding Divine Worship. In the book of Exodus, he gave instructions concerning the Tabernacle, such as:
1. Collection of materials
2. Ark an atonement cover
3. Table of the bread of the Presence
4. Gold lampstand
5. Curtains and frames
6. Altar of burnt offering
7. Garments and ordination of the priests
8. Voluntary gifts
9. Appointment of craftsmen
10. Erection and dedication of the tabernacle, etc.
Now, I know that the Lord’s Presence is not present as it was in the days of old, for now His Presence indwells the believer. However, I believe that God does care about His house of worship, or as Jesus’ put it, His “House of Prayer.” We ought not to neglect our church buildings. I feel that God is honored when we maintain His house of worship clean and presentable. That is why…we will be having an all day Church Cleaning and Rummage Sale on March 14th. I encourage you to come and dedicate some time to beautifying God’s House. Let use our God-given talents and skills for His honor and glory.

As we journey through our Bible reading, I was struck by a passage in Exodus. Moses was quite hesistant in accepting God’s call in delivering God’s People from Egypt. However, God was merciful and understanding. After performing miraculous signs before the Pharaoh, Moses finally leads the Israelites out of the land. God’s presence was with them…through the pillar of cloud by day and through the pillar of fire by night. Then they face one of their greatest obstacles…the crossing of the Sea. The people begin to grumble and question Moses, so Moses begins to call on God. Here’s what struck me…”Then the Lord said to Moses, ‘Why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to move on. Raise your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea to divide the water so that the Israelites can go through the sea on dry ground…’”
Sometimes, God wants us to act on what He has already said or promised. Are we lacking faith? Are we being obedient? May God give us the boldness to walk in obedience and the sensibility to hear His small still voice. Blessings!

Today marks the last day of our 21 day Fast. God is good! We have been seeking the Lord and have been in agreement believing God for a spiritual breakthrough. Corporate fasts are biblical. Something happens in the spiritual realm when God’s people come together in unison for a paricular cause. We have been asking the Lord for unity in our church, as well as being focused in our mission. God desires to move in great ways and He will…for His own glory. Praise the Lord!

In our church we are engaged in reading through the entire Bible this year. We are doing so chronologically. For example, the Book of Job is integrated with Genesis because Job lived before Abraham.
Today’s reading falls on Gen. 43-45, where Joseph, Israel’s son, finally makes himself known to his brothers. It’s an amazing story of perseverance. Joseph’s life is filled with trials, trials that don’t make sense…facing rejection and betrayal from his own brothers, false accusations and the like.
However, God uses Joseph in bringing about deliverance to countless people through seven years of severe famine. I love how Joseph sums it up later in Gen. 50:20 as he directs himself to his brothers: “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.”
Are you hurting today? Remember that God is still on the throne; He is sovereign! One day we, as Joseph, will be able to look back and see God’s hand with us. Let’s press on; don’t give up.

The world looked on as Barack Obama took the oath of office as the 44th president of the United States this past Tuesday, January 20th. As I watched parts of it, the Holy Spirit gently reminded of God’s Word.
“Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.” – Romans 13:1
“Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every authority instituted among men: whether to the king, as the supreme authority, or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right. For it is God’s will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish men. Live as free men, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as servants of God. Show proper respect to everyone: Love the brotherhood of believers, fear God, honor the king.” – I Peter 2:13-17
I must accept Barack’s presidency though we don’t agree on all the issues. In addition to this, our responsibility as believers is to bring him before the throne of God in prayer. Barack Obama is now MY PRESIDENT. I have an obligation to intercede for him as he leads our country. We live in uncertain times, and I challenge the Church to unite in prayer for our president, for this is not only a commandment but also honors our God by “silencing the ignorant talk of foolish men.”
“I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.” – I Timothy 2:1-2
